Back School

Back School

Eight out of ten Canadians will experience back pain at one point in their lives. Millions of dollars are lost due to time off work and decreased productivity in the workplace due to back and neck pain. Research has shown that educating employees about ergonomics and preventative strategies, can greatly decrease the number of injuries and time lost due to back and neck pain.

In an effort to promote prevention and community education, Total Rehab Orthopedic & Athletic Medicine has developed a program called “Back School” for employers to share with their employees.
There are two components to Back School.  First is an hour-long session, which provides you and your employees with:
  • Up to date information on the spine and its function;
  • Causes of back and neck pain,
  • Proper ergonomics; and
  • Strategies to prevent back injuries in the workplace.
The second component includes an active stretching program that your employees will actually perform with our staff.
Our presentation educates employees on:
  • How to sit at an ergonomic workstation;
  • Proper bio-mechanics of the spine and related muscles; and
  • Preventative strategies that they can implement the next day.
Our staff will also go over a series of stretches that every employee can perform at their desk, safely, in order to prevent injuries from arising. Each employee will also receive a package of useful information that they can keep for future reference.
No need to come to us, we bring Back School to you! Call today for more information and get your employees back on the road to health!
We can also adapt this program for high school students. Please call us today to bring “Back School” to your classroom!
